Duas for Ramadan
Ramadan is a time of immense blessings. It's the holiest month of the year where Muslims increase their worship, good deeds and make plenty of dua, or supplication. One of the most generous blessings of the month of Ramadan is the opportunity of having our dua (supplications) accepted. A believer wants nothing more than his/her dua, be it for aspects of this dunya or betterment in the akhirah, to be accepted. Dua is the weapon of every believer; there is nothing else that can directly and regularly shield, protect and arm us against the trials and tribulations of this life like dua.
Remember the Prophet’s ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) words:
“Dua (supplication) is worship” [Abu Dawud]
The dua of a believer is powerful, especially when fasting.
“There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.’ ” [Tirmidhi]
It is a important reminder for all of us that , it is not the length of your dua that matters, but rather the meaning and intentions behind it that are of importance.we need to come prepared into Ramadan with how you want to approach your duas.As before we know it, Ramadan will be over again, so it's vital that we maximise every precious moment in which we can make dua.
we can maximize the impact and sincerity of our dua,by following few simple guidelines :
1)Have faith that Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) will respond.
2)Start your dua by praising Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) and calling upon Him with His Most Beautiful Names
3)Follow this by sending blessings upon the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)
4)End your dua with salawat on the Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him)
5)Do not raise your voice too high
6)Face the qiblah whenever possible
To help you make your Ramadan as meaningful and fruitful as possible, try to recite the following duas with devotion in your hearts.
Ramadan Duas You Need to know
- THE DUA FOR OPENING THE FAST
[Abu Dawud]
Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan.
I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.
Having something to eat, even if it’s small, like some dates and water, is a sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ) and highly recommended. Whether you say your intention out loud or in your heart, it’s key to begin acts of worship, like opening the fast, with an intention or dua.
2.THE DUA FOR BREAKING THE FAST
[Abu Dawud]
Dhahaba adh-Dhama’ wabtallatil-urooq wa thabatal-ajr inshaa’Allah.
Thirst is gone, the veins are wet, and the reward is confirmed by the will of God.
During the time of breaking the fast is one of the best times to make dua, as recommended by the Prophet (ﷺ).
3.PROTECTION
“I seek refuge in Allah’s Perfect Words from the evil of what he created.” [Hadith; Tirmidhi 3604b]
4.SUCCESS
“Our Lord, give us in this world good and in the Hereafter good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” [Quran; 2:201]
5.SECURITY
“O Allah! I ask you for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my wealth. O Allah! Cover my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay. O Allah! Preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above, and I seek refuge with you lest I be swallowed up by the earth.” [Hadith; Bulugh al-Maram]
6.PEACE
“O Allah, I seek refuge with You from miserliness and cowardice, and I seek refuge with You from reaching the age of second childhood, and I seek refuge in You from the ills of the heart, and I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave.” [Hadith; Nasa’i 5497]
- DUA TO READ FOR LALATUL QADAR NIGHTS
[Tirmidhi]
Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbu al-afwa fa’fu anni.
Oh Allah you are forgiving, and you love forgiveness, so forgive me.
Ramadan is a time of forgiveness, so make sure you read this dua as much as you can.
- TAWAKKAL
“O Allah guide me among those You have guided, pardon me among those You have pardoned, befriend me among those You have befriended, bless me in what You have granted, and save me from the evil that You decreed. Indeed You decree, and none can pass decree, and none can pass decree upon You, indeed he is not humiliated whom You have befriended, blessed are You our Lord and Exalted.” [Hadith; Tirmidhi 464]
9.CONTENTMENT
“My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.” [Quran; 28:24]
10.DUA TO EASE DIFFICULTY
This dua was recited by Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) when he was in the belly of the giant Whale.
"No Muslim person says it, for any situation whatsoever, except that Allah Most High answers his call.” - (Tirmidhi)
A gem of a dua that is short, sweet, and effective to gain Allah's SWT mercy during a difficulty or trial.
La ilaha illa Anta, Subhanaka, inni kuntu mina z-zalimin.
“There is no deity but You. Glory be to You! Verily, I have been among the wrongdoers.” - (Quran 21:87)
11.RELIEF FROM SORROW AND DISTRESS
A beautiful dua to ask our Merciful Lord to make our affairs easy
Allahumma la sahla illa maa ja’altahu sahlan, wa Anta taj’alu l-hazna idha shi’ta sahla.
“O Allah! There is no ease except that which You make easy, and indeed You, when You want, make difficulties easy.” - (Sahih Ibn Hibban)
12.SELF-CONTROL
“O Allah! Your mercy is what I hope for. Do not abandon me to myself for an instant, but put all my affairs in good order for me. There is no god but You.” [Hadith; Abi Dawud 5090]
