رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ My Lord, truly I am in need, for whatever good that You bestow on me. (Surah Al Qasas, 28:24) Musa(AS) makes this beautiful and powerful dua upon his escape from Egypt after unintentionally killing a man and landing up in Madyan. Musa(AS) was homeless, jobless, and alone in a strange town, he helped two women without expecting any favours in return. He then withdrew under a tree to sincerely call to His Lord for help. The words of this dua are words of desperation, words that reflect how lost Musa(AS) is feeling, so much so that he can’t even bring himself to ask for something specific, but he still asks and begs for *any* good that Allah can send down upon him. At such a sincere display of pure trust, his Lord responded to his prayer. Allah gave him a long-lasting job, a considerate employer, accommodation, and a chaste wife. All within the same day. This is an extremely powerful Dua, that covers all the good we need from Allah when we aren’t exactly sure what is best for us. We are weak and in need of Allah for everything. We cannot do without Him in the blink of an eye. So let us beg Allah whole-heartedly and sincerely, and we will surely witness the gifts from al-Wahhab (The Ever-Giving) shower into our lives.
